A great time I had was when I got to see my first live Laker game about 3 years ago. This was something I had wanted to do ever since I became a fan around the age of five. It wasn't just a regular game either they were in the NBA Finals playing against the Orlando Magic. What made it even better was that I got to go with my uncle who was the one that got me into the sport of basketball. He had a special membership with a website and was able to get a hold of some really good seats. Arriving at Staples Center was one of the greatest feeling because everywhere I looked their were Laker Fans. I can clearly remember looking at the huge lit up letters that read Staples Center. Once we finally walked inside I got the great smell of hotdogs, popcorn, burgers, and many other foods. I was really blown away when I saw the actual center court since I had been used to watching the game on television. The vibe was amazing and the game was really good. I got to see my favorite player Kobe Bryant play live and see the Lakers win the game. I had a really great time and hope I can attend another game sometime next year.

Blog #11
1. I won $2,000 at Chumash.
2. I met & got autographs of my two favorite players Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson.
3. I was involved in a 3 car collision & broke my arm.
4. I have never failed a class in my life.
5. I enjoy playing golf every Saturday.
6. I only drink soda nothing else.
Number 2 Is the truth. I met Magic Johnson shortly after he became an owner of the Dodgers. I took a picture with him and got him to autograph a baseball bat. I met Kobe Bryant when he released a pair of sneakers at a Nike store and got a pair autographed.
My first semester at Oxnard College has been going really good. First day on campus was really exciting because I was very eager to see how everything was. I expected teachers to be really strict, but found out they weren’t. It probably helped that I asked my cousins who to take. I hoped to see at least one of my friends from high school and I did not recognize even one person in my four classes. That is not a big deal anymore because I have made many new friends this semester. The campus is really big and I have not even seen half of it. The best thing I like about college is that you are in control of your schedule. The work is challenging as I expected, but very manageable. Every time I just want to avoid doing homework or study for a quiz I stop and think how important this is towards my future. I stay motivated by knowing all this hard work will one day pay off and provide me with a good life. I have definetly learned a lot in the past few weeks and hope to continue throughout college.

Fast Food Folk Song - Rhett & Link
This is not my favorite video, but I would say it is in my top 10. I thought it was entertaining and since we are reading about fast food I thought this would be a cool video to share.

Family
For me family are the most important people in life and this will never change. Not just parents and siblings, I’m talking about my grandparents, cousins, uncles, aunts, and even my dog that I consider family. I have so much love for them because they have always been there for me throughout my eighteen years I have been living on this planet and play an important role in my life. Growing up as an only child may be kind of hard for many children, but not for me because I had care and support from my family any time I needed it. Since I was five years old I have been living with not only my parents, but my grandparents and two uncles as well. Even though my uncles were much older than me it felt like they were my older brothers. When they weren't around and I wanted to play with someone around my age I always had my favorite guy cousin Steven. I remember always getting in trouble with him, but I enjoyed it because it made me feel like we had that older brother younger brother relationship. The house was never empty because my grandma would take care of all my cousins when they were on summer vacation. The years passed and everybody got older so we saw less of each other. Even though we didn't see each other during the week much, every Sunday the whole family gathers at my grandma’s house. We all take food and just have fun as a family knowing we are with loved ones that can always be trusted. I realized even though there are true friends most just come and go while family will be forever. Everyone should appreciate and love their family while they are still here.

Interview
Classmate Interview: Elaine Chico Cantiveros
The first impression I got when I saw Elaine was that she was outgoing, nice, friendly and a smart girl. Finally, meeting her and having conversation I realized this was exactly how she was. She was born in the Philippines and lived their most of her life, but she recently moved here to the United States about a year ago. She told how in the Philippines education tends to be slightly more important than here in the United States. I saw this as a huge benefit for Elaine because that extra push and knowledge she has received will definitely help her accomplish any goals in life. Her career goal is to become a nurse in a hospital to be able to help out patients. Knowing she will have a bright future is what really motivates her to study and try hard in school. Her mentors in life are her parents and she considers herself as a role model for her little brother. Her motto in life is “if you want something, work hard and go for it.” I am really happy I met her.

Texting & Driving
I believe texting and driving is one of the most dangerous combinations that can lead to injuries and possibly fatalities. When someone is behind the wheel of a car they really need to have good eyesight and their ears open seeing and hearing their surroundings. I don’t know how everybody else is, but when I text I feel like I’m literally inside my own phone and space out all my surroundings. This is definitely something that is the exact opposite of what you should be doing while driving.Honestly I see no point in doing it because their really is absolutely no text message that needs to be replied right after it’s received it can wait. Someone shouldn't risk their life’s while driving just to answer a text that says what’s up? In recent years about 20 percent of fatal crashes have been due to distracted drivers on cell phones. Studies have shown that when your texting you double your reaction time to any road dangers.
It is very important that something be done to decrease the rate of fatal or any car crashes due to cellphone texting. I know bluetooth is already an option, but that has no effect on text messaging instead it’s directed towards talking on a cell phone. I believe texting is much more dangerous for the reason that when your talking you can actually see the road in front of you. A way that might get some people to stop would be setting a high priced fine for texting while driving. Also, requiring all new car models to have enabled voice texting from now on could help. The one way that is sure not to back fire is simply turning off your cellphone when driving. It really doesn't matter how it be solved, but rather how soon it could be solved. This is something that needs to be addressed the sooner the better.
Reality TV
Television has always been a big part of my life, since I was young watching cartoons. As I got older I got more into sitcoms like The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air and shows like Family Guy. Reality shows never really caught my attention, mostly because more then half these shows are fake. I tried to watch Jersey Shore once, but I thought it was so dumb no point at all for even having that show. I remember everyday at school people talking about the show as if it were their own life's. Never understood why people liked the show I thought it was so fake and planned out. Its kind of hard not watching reality TV, since most channels have at least one or more of these shows. I would say I hate them all, but I Just be lying.Their are a few reality TV shows that I do enjoy watching. One show I really like and cant stop watching is Hardcore Pawn. I enjoy it because its just so crazy I just get glued to the TV. Their are some scenes that look fake but the rest looks legit. This show is very interesting and I will probably continue to watch it.
I honestly think some reality shows do harm our society while others actually benefit our society. I think affects the society negatively, because the main audience for these shows are teenagers, and watching these shows can lead to bad decisions. Some shows have bad influences such as drinking and driving, fighting, and many other things that harm our society. Some bad trends have started because of reality TV mostly due to the celebrities that make the show what it is. I do think their are certain shows that have a good meaning behind them. For example America’s Got Talent lets viewers of all ages see that anybody with a talent can be discovered and get fortune and fame. Good or bad reality television will not be leaving anytime soon.

Fast Food
Fast food and I go way back before I was even old enough to order food from these establishments myself. I literally was in love with the unhealthy grease filled breakfast at Mcdonalds. I remember telling my mom exactly what I wanted two sausage mcgriddles, two hash browns, and a medium soda. At the age of eight I was probably eating fast food as much as five times a week. I didn’t know what unhealthy food was all I saw was a happy clown named Ronald with toys and good looking food being served from his restaurant. I’m not sure if it was the food or toys that led me to go multiple times week. Although I ate that much of it you couldn't tell because I was skinny form always playing sports. By the age of thirteen I can honestly say I was addicted to fast food. The problem was that I started noticing the effects when I started gaining weight very rapidly. Freshman year of high school was the first time someone told me I had gotten fat. It just hits me maybe I need to change the way I eat and workout more. I wanted to change, but it was hard especially with my family. Fast food has always been a huge part of my family for as long as I can remember. Not one Sunday passed by where I didn’t see a bucket of Kentucky fried chicken on the table. The weird thing was that we knew the dangers of fast food yet continued to buy it. We bought it because one it tasted really good and second it’s cheap and very affordable. Although it’s very unhealthy some of my best childhood memories took place in fast food restaurants.
For about the past four years I have been exercising and eating very healthy, so I have kept fast food very limited. Ever since I started researching how the food is made and the low quality ingredients they use I just couldn't eat it anymore. Another bad thing about most food items from these fast food restaurants is the fat content along with the sodium its just way too much and unhealthy. The only times I do eat rather poorly it’s usually higher quality restaurant food and not fast food. I’d have to say that I probably eat fast food only four times a year. That is only if you count In N Out as fast food. You could eat fast food and still be healthy by selecting smaller portion sizes and choosing chicken instead of beef. For me the problem is, I eat so much, so the calories add up very quickly. Food is a very huge part of my life I love to eat, but I don’t choose fast food. Sure its tasty, but when you eat it so much your body starts not to function the same and effects you long-term. I know by excluding fast food as well as sodas, and junk food I will live a longer healthier life.
Past Present & Future
It all started on October 14th, 1994 I remember it very clearly just kidding everything was a blur until about kindergarten. My childhood was a little different from all my elementary school friends because unlike them I was an only child. I remember being in school hearing everybody talking about their older brothers and sisters all the time. Sure I got more toys which were very important back then, but I always wanted to have that older brother figure in my life. Instead of an older sibling my grandma was the one always there for me since we live in the same house. When I was in 3rd grade my mom decided to enroll me in soccer which I hated. I already knew I wasn't good, but had to prove it to her so I only scored two goals the whole season. Keep in mind it wasn't on purpose. I tried another sport and found out it was perfect for me basketball. Not only did I enjoy playing, but I was pretty good too. Growing up I became a huge Los Angeles Lakers fan. I really enjoyed junior high I attended E.O Green and graduated on too Hueneme High School. Some of the best four years of my life. Graduation was a very exciting long awaited day for me. A day I will never forget seeing all my friends and family with smiles on their faces. For me having my grandma congratulate and give me a huge was the most memorable moment of my graduation.
Currently at the age of seventeen I am attending Oxnard College. I have only been their a couple of days, but I'm already enjoying it. Much different from high school, but I already got used to it probably because I get to wake up late for classes greatest feeling ever. I hope to get my license within the next couple months and my car too. The car I have my eye on is a 2008 Honda Accord right now, but my dream car is a 2012 Lexus Gs 450. I'm tired of riding the bus to school there are too many weird people. To buy a car money is needed and that’s where sadly I come across a problem. I have never worked, but I started filling out applications recently hopefully I get a call soon. Even now I am still a very active person playing basketball every now and then with some of my friends. I just started lifting weights and I also run at the beach. I’ve stopped eating junk food and fast food for a couple of years now. I'm living a healthy lifestyle from now on.
In the future I hope to see myself with a good paying job, and my dream car as well. This could be ten years or even ten weeks from now. The future is inevitable so I want to succeed in everything I can do now to make every day in the future better. That way when I have a family I am able to support them, and give them a good life. I really don’t see myself still living here in Oxnard once I have a family. I would really like to move to Las Vegas, but the summer heat is just to intense I would have to get accustomed to it. If I were to move to Las Vegas I would be able to attend UNLV which would be awesome.
